Martha Jane Kirchner, 81, of Brazil, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at 8:04 p.m. at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born June 5, 1923, in Knightsville, the daughter of Ross Allan Lucas and Alma Short Lucas.
She graduated from Van Buren High School, Class of 1941. She married Samuel Enoch Kirchner on May 24, 1944. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1996.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Berea Christian Church. She was a former member of the Eastern Star in Center Point. She enjoyed reading, playing games with the grandchildren and crocheting.
She is survived by her children; Terry Kirchner and wife Marsha of Brazil, Charles "Chuck" Kirchner and wife Siripan of Hatyai, Thailand, Susie Goodman and husband Mike of Brazil and Rich Kirchner and wife Josie of Brazil; eight grandchildren, Terra Baker and husband Glen, Dr. Ethan Kirchner, Jeff Goodman and wife Ashley, Justin Goodman, Zach Goodman, Mike Davis and wife Jennie, Tia Kirchner and Olivia Kirchner; four great-grandchildren, Garrett Kirchner, Cole Baker, Michael Goodman and Rylie Davis; one sister, Ruth Phillips and husband Bill of Cory; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Sammy Kirchner; one daughter, Melissa Kirchner; one granddaughter, Gina Kirchner; one sister, Doris McShanog; five brothers, Ross Lucas, Jim Lucas, Kenneth "Johnny" Lucas, Stanley Lucas and Bob Lucas.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Hess officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4-8 p.m. and again Sunday one hour prior to services. Send a heart of condolence at:
