Margaret Ann Hammel, 65, of Indianapolis, died at 7:20 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at her home.
Born Sept. 15, 1939, in Beech Grove, Ind., she was the daughter of Raymond Frank Thurston and Clara Burnell Thurston. Both are deceased. She graduated from Ben Davis High School.
She was married to Kenneth Hammell who survives.
Margaret was a homemaker, owner of Red Dog Trading Co., safety patrol officer at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Pagoda, worked at the media center and in the winner circle at the Joliet, Ill., Chicago Land Raceway.
She belonged to Clermont Christian Church and Brownsburg Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include four daughters, Michelle Anne Hammel, Doborah Kay O'Connor, Donna Jo "Toadie" Overfelt and Lisa Marie Hammel; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with Steven Reeves and Earl Moore officiating.
Burial will be in Brownsburg Cemetery.
