Ellen L. Neely Whicker, 86, formerly of Pershing, Ind., died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil.
Born Nov. 27, 1917, in New Albany, Ind., she was the daughter of Benjamin H. and Jessie Danner Dobbins. She lived most of her life in Pershing.
She worked for General Telephone in Cambridge City, Ind., for 10 years and then was an Avon representative for 36 years. She was a member of Pershing United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia, and husband, Michael Mackey, of Brazil; a granddaughter, Merri Ellen Daniel of Riley, Ind.; a grandson, M. Shawn, and wife, Pam Mackey, of New Palestine, Ind.; a great-grandson, Brock M. Daniel of Riley; a step-sister, Beverly Julius, of Windfall, Ind.; a step-daughter, Kay Wolfe, of Arlington, Ind.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Wendell E. Neely in 1975 and Ernest V. Whicker in 1997; and two brothers, Charles and Nelson Dobbins.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City with the Rev. Aletha McVeigh officiating.
Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing, Ind.
Friends may call 1 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
