Joan Margaret Hockman, 67, of Clay City died at 7:53 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
Born Feb. 17, 1937, in Clay County, she was the daughter of Ralph Glenn Love and Mable Louise Burris Love.
She was a homemaker and L.P.N. at Vigo County Nursing Home for three years and McCann Manor, Center Point, for 16 years. She was a life member and pianist of New Hope Baptist Church, playing for all occasions; Clay City Order of Eastern Star No. 355; a former member of D.A.R. and the Mayflower Society; and a 1955 graduate of Clay City High School.
Survivors include her husband, Donald G. Hockman, whom she married Oct. 16, 1993; three sons, Steve and Michelle Walden, Terre Haute, Terry and Diana Walden, Clay City, and Russell and Shannon Walden, Clay City; a daughter, Susan and Kevin Hutson of Terre Haute; two stepdaughters, Ginger and Robert Eib of Bradenton, Fla., and Peggy and Eugene Lamneck of Rome, Ga.; a stepson, Eddie and Carol Walden II of Keystone Heights, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Max and Kylie Hutson of Terre Haute, Taylor Walden of Clay City, Justin Walden of Terre Haute, Kristen and Donnie Porter of Terre Haute, Brianna and Nathaniel Walden of Clay City, Shawn Walden and fiancee April Kennedy of Terre Haute; and four stepgreat-grandchildren, Robert Eib of Florida, Buck and Sonya Lamneck of Georgia, Brett Lamneck of Georgia and Jennifer and Scott Wagle of Clay City; a great-grandchild, Austin Walden, of Terre Haute; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Jad, Samantha and Evan Wagle of Clay City; two sisters-in-law, Ronetta Love of Riley and Ruth A. and Gene Sinders of Clay City and children Mark and Jennifer; nephews Robert Love of Riley and Rondall Love of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ralph Love, and a stepgrandchildren, K.C. Morrell.
Visitation will be Thursday, 4-8 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home in Clay City. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Nathan Couch officiating.
Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
