Nina Marie Blackwell, 74, Brazil, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Royal Oak Healthcare in Terre Haute. She was born Jan. 17, 1930, in Glenwood Landing, New York. She was the daughter of James and Margaret Casey Gover.
She graduated from Nassau Community College. She worked for more than 20 years as an office manager for a manufacturers representative firm in the automotive products field. She married Dale Bascom Blackwell on Sept. 10, 1967, in Huntington, New York.
She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa national honor fraternity and an active member of the Business & Professional Women's organization where she had served on several committees and as president.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James Gover and one sister, Anne Ford.
She is survived by her husband Dale Blackwell; two daughters, Loretta Dash and her husband Ralph and Nina Marie Watanabe, both of California; two sisters, Dorothy Porcari of Pembroke Pines, Fl. and Margaret Ellen Newell of Universal, Ind. and four grandchildren, Alexander, Halle Rose, Hiroko and Katsumi.
At the request of the deceased her body will be cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home. Friends will be received by the family from 7 p.m. until the time of service.
Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Brazil BPW Scholarship Fund established at the Clay County Community Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
