Ethel L. Nevins, 91, of Brazil died at 8:24 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at Clay Health Center where she had been living for more than two years.
Born in southern Clay County on Sept. 25, 1913, her parents were Charles and Effie Ellis Horton. She graduated from Clay City High School.
Ethel was a member of First Baptist Church in Brazil and had lived here most of her life.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Daniel Earl Nevins, in December 1991.
Surviving are two sons, Charles Nevins and wife, Carolyn, of Terre Haute and David Nevins of Brazil; a daughter, Carolyn Carrone of New Orleans, La.; a brother, John Horton, of Coal City; three sisters, Agnes Sinders and Juanita Shonk of Clay City and Iva Hubble of Jasonville; 13 grandchildren, Kathryn, Anna, Danny, Summer, Stacy and Charlie Nevins, Jennifer Stinson, Daniel P. and Michael Carrone, James Cass, Amy Heading, Derek and Patty Nevins; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Miller Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Robert Sampson officiating and burial will be in Sink Cemetery, south of Clay City.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday.
