LEYLAN MERIDTH CREED
Leylan Meridth Creed, 90, of Greencastle, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, in The Waters of Greencastle Nursing Home.
Born April 26, 1914, in Randolph County, Mo., he was the son of Haskell and Eurah Stokes Creed. In 1936, he married Ula Mae Robertson, who died June 8, 1955.
He had been a farmer and electrician in Missouri before moving to Indiana. He worked as an electrician and evening supervisor for AM General in Indianapolis before retiring in 1979. Memberships included the Long Branch Church of Christ, formerly a member of the Salem Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, Mo., and the Christian Church in Cairo, Mo.
Survivors include seven sons, Robert Creed and wife, Winona, of Harding, Mo., Duane Creed and wife, Mary Ellen, Delbert Creed and wife, Jane, Gerald Creed and wife, Elsa, all of Cairo, Mo., Larry Creed and wife, Jane of Jacksonville, Mo., Larry Creed and wife, Theresa, and Leyland Dale Creed both of Brazil and Loyd Creed of Danville, Ind.; a daughter, Sherry Wheeler, and husband, Bryan, of Hartwell, Ga.; two brothers, Lowell Creed and wife, Marjorie, of California, and Donald Creed and wife, Betty, of Cairo, Mo.; and a sister, Dorothy Johnson, of Moberly, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Katheryn Kiser.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today in Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home.
Burial with graveside services will be in Oakland Cemetery, Moberly, Mo., with the Rev. Dean Frey officiating.
