Gayle Eleanor Brown, 87, of Terre Haute, died 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born March 2, 1917, in Terre Haute, the daughter of John and Ethel Auten Reese who have both preceded her in death.
Several years following high school she returned to college and attended Florida Theological School where she received her bachelor's degree. She served as the Senior Pastor at Sugar Grove Community Church near Farmersburg, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Charles Murphy, Benjamin F. Willan, Arthur Floyd and Malon Brown; four sisters, Beryl Hutchins, Marie Micheals, Hester Reese and Lillian Brothers and three brothers, Howes Reese, Harry Reese and Wilbur Reese.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Edwards of Springhill, Kan., and Kathi Daugherty of Terre Haute; four sons, James Murphy of Moscow, Texas, Charles David Murphy of Palm Beach, Fla., Benjamin M. Willan of Brazil and William Willan of Albany, Ohio; one sister, Wilma Reese of Harmony and one brother, John Reese of Brazil. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Karol Popoff officiating. Private family burial will follow at Ashboro Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sugar Grove Community Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
