Bernard L. Haas Jr., 77, of Batesvile, Ind., died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at Columbus (Ind.) Regional Hospital.

Born Dec. 27, 1926, in Clay County, he was the son of Bernard Sr., and Versa Kirchner Haas.

He retired from Batesville Casket Co. and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He married Margie Haas on Nov. 30, 1973, in Sunman, Ind. She died Nov. 13, 1989.

Mr. Haas was a member of Adams Lutheran Church and VFW 3183, Batesville.

Survivors include a son, Michael Haas, of Victoria, Texas; two daughters, Michelle Jones and Monica Haas, both of Terre Haute; two stepsons, Terry Powell, of Bright, Ind., and Kim Powell, of Batesville; two stepdaughters, Robin Schornick, of Batesville and Amy Ruggles, of Lexington, Ky.; 18 grandsons; and a great-grandson.

A sister, Wilma Rightsell, and a great-granddaughter are deceased.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, Ind.

Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. William Powlen officiating. Burial will follow in Adams Lutheran Cemetery with military funeral rites.
