Robert E. Powell, 75, of Poland died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, in HealthSouth, Terre Haute.
Born Jan. 12, 1929, in Jordan Village, Ind., he was the son of Arthur Melvin and Frances (Walbring) Powell. He Married Barbara Schopmeyer on Sept. 12, 1954.
Mr. Powell serrved in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He retired in 1987 from IBM in Greencastle
Memberships included Jordan Village Presbyterian Church, Jordan Village, Ind., Clay Lodge No. 85, F&AM, Bowling Green, Terre Haute Valley of Scottish Rite; Zorah Temple of A.A.O.M.S., Terre Haute, American Legion Post No. 2, Brazil and BPOE No. 762, Brazil; he was a life member of VFW No. 1550, Jesse M. Lee Post, Greencastle.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Angela Malicoat and husband, Maurice; two sons, Wayne Powell and wife, Connie, and Bradley Powell Sr.; a sister, Faye Salyers; a brother, Richard L. Powell and wife, Ellen; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father on April 4, 1991,his mother on June 12, 2003, and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with the Rev. David A. Bremer officiating.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Masonic Services at 7:45 p.m. Saturday.
Burial will be in Poland Chapel Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Poland Street Light Fund, the Poland Volunteer Fire Department, Clay Lodge No. 85 or the donor's favorite church.
