Ralph F. Furney, 84, of rural Greencastle died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at the Asbury Towers Retirement Center.
Born June 1, 1920, in Putnam County, he was the son of Ross and Julie Daniels Furney. In 1952 he married Ruth Harden and she passed away in 2001.
Mr. Furney had been a farmer and a carpenter and had served in the United States Navy from 1943-1945. He was a member of the Reelsville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Raymond J. Furney, and wife, Kathy, of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; a daughter, Rose Ann Furney, of Indianapolis; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, wife and two sisters, Elsie and Nannie, preceded him in death.
Graveside services with Military Rites will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery with the Rev. Philip Badger and the Rev. Bart Caldwell officiating.
Friends may call at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
