He is the son of Charles Junior and Betty Chambers Frye.
Most recently, he worked as a correctional officer at Reception and Diagnostic Center in Plainfield. He was an avid country music fan and played for bands such as the Outlaw Blues and Showdown as their lead guitarist and singer.
Survivors include his mother; his wife, Loretta; two sons, Jeremy of Elletsville and Charles of Brazil; two daughters, Misty and Ashley, both of Brazil; a sister, Sheryl Frederick, of Massachusetts; and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Services will be at Miller Memorial Chapel at noon Saturday with Pastor Tim Voll of Epworth United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Bee Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until services on Saturday.
