Nina Belle Pierce, 81, of Brazil died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at Holly Hills Healthcare Facility where she had been a resident for three years.
Born June 3, 1923, in Clay County, she was the daughter of Albert and Rachel Buckle Hughes.
She attended Staunton High School.
On June 15, 1941, she married John Raymond Pierce.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Brazil. Nina was also involved in the Shrine and was active in Daughters of the Nile. She worked for CBS for more than 18 years as a press operator.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Downey and husband, Don, of Knightsville, Donna Felty and Marsha Kirchner and husband, Terry, all of Brazil; 12 grandchildren, Matthew Downey and wife, Jennifer, Rachel Jones and husband, John, Sarah Downey, Loren Laughmiller, Dodie Julbert, Gerlad Julbert Jr., Gregory Julbert, Glen Julbert and wife, Kelly, Rusty Cooper and wife, Terri, Lena Felty, Terra Kirchner Baker and husband, Glen, and Dr. Ethan Kircher; 18 great-grandchildren, Nick Warner, Jami Warner, Lindsey Jones, Mica Jones, Tonya Bird, Crystal Bird, Gabrielle Julbert, Tristan Julbert, Brianna Julbert, Alexandra Julbert, Austin Cooper, Garrett Kirchner, Cole Baker, Sebastian Felty, Jennifer Baker, Glen Baker Jr., Beth Jones and Whitney Stidd; two brothers, Gayle Hughes and wife, Lois, and Guy Hughes; many nieces, nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who passed away July 28, 1984; a sister, Betty Hughes; and a sister-in-law, Marian Hughes.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Clearview Cemetery with Pastor Howard Hughes officiating.
