Harry Owens Jr., 61, of Parke County died at 8:55 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at his residence.
Born April 12, 1943, in Martinsville, Ind. He was the son of Harry and Queenie Baker Owens Sr. Following graduation from Martinsville High School in 1961 he entered military service with the U.S. Navy. He served during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Robison until his Honorable discharge.
He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and playing bluegrass music.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Brenda Joan Owens.
He is survived by his wife Penny Owens; two stepdaughters, Jenny Reeves of Evansville, Ind., and Angie Medley and husband, Glen, of Harrison, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Emily and Jackson Medley; two brothers, Jim and wife, Pam, Owens of Clay City and Bill and wife, Patty Owens, of Martinsville; mother-in-law, Maude Riley, of Carbon; brother-in-law, Don and wife, Irene Walters, of Danville, Ind.; special cousins Nancy and husband, Jim Stinnet, of Greenwood, Ind., and Ransetta Price of Martinsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home. At the request of the deceased, his body will be cremated following visitation.
