Benita Louise Clagg, 71, of Brazil, died at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2004 in Union Hospital in Terre Haute.

Born Oct. 10, 1933, in Wood River, Ill., she was the daughter of Duard and Beulah Cates Ward.

She graduated from Worden High School.

She married Karl Clagg May 19, 1951 ,in Alton, Ill.

She was employed for many years as a manager of Olan Mills Photography.

She was an active member of the Carbon Baptist Church and enjoyed creating jewelry, quilting, reading and operating an antique shop. She enjoyed music and sang in a family quartet. She and her husband Karl had served as volunteers for the VistaCare Hospice in the Wabash Valley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Kathleen Clagg, and one sister, Laveda Franke, and her stepfather, Kenneth Harpole.

Survivors include her husband, Karl; three daughters, Karla and husband, Craig Erkkila, of Houston, Texas, Karen and husband, Joe Britton, of Brazil, and Kimberly and Charles Wilkerson of Farmersburg; and one son, Wesley, and wife, Rita Clagg, of Terre Haute.

She is also survived by several grandchildren, Jennifer Harvey and husband, Greg, Miranda Peacock and husband, Dale, Joshua Erkkila, Kassie and Kara Britton, Kallie and Benita Wilkerson, Katie Jo and Kendra Clagg, Jason Britton and wife, Sherry, Jessica Britton, Maria, Jennifer and Jessica Wilkerson, 10 great grandchildren and three sisters, June and husband, Con Slaton, Rita and husband, Leo Gwyn, and Fleta and husband, Billy Welch, all of Alton, Ill.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Howard Hughes officiating.
