John Boten, 88, of Oakland City, passed away at his home Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, after a long illness. He moved to Oakland City from Williamsport, Ind., in 1976. He was a foreman and driver for Rose Brother's Trucking Co. of Terre Haute. He was a 50-year member of the F&AM Lodge No. 597 at Center Point, Ind.

He was preceeded in death by his wife, Marjorie (Brown) Boten, who died in 2001; his parents, Oltmann and Anna Hayn Boten; two brothers; and a sister.

Survivors include a son William Boten, of Durham, Neb.; a daughter Diane Watkins, Oakland City, Ind.; a sister Alice Miles, of Danville, Ill.; six grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Center Point Cemetery. The visitation at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City will be private.

Friends may make donations to the Center Point Methodist Church or the VNA Hospice.
