Virginia Lee Cordrey, 85, of Brazil died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility.
She had been a resident there for a year.
Born in Vigo County, she was the daughter of Lewis and Florence Ellen Taylor Bowers.
She attended Glenn High School and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Seelyville.
Virginia married Robert Lee Cordrey, who died in 1993.
She worked as a cook for the Vigo County School Corp., retiring several years ago.
She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and needlework and was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her daughters, Bevelyn Sampson and Judy Ferry, both of Brazil, Marjorie Heck and husband, Leo, of Sevierville, Tenn., and Paula Laycock and husband, Richard, of Prairie Creek; nine grandchildren, Jody Wyndham, Samantha Salinetro, Robert Ferry, Jina Tiefel, Susan Neiswinger, Vicky Trusler, Randy Heck, Delores Whitlock and Karrie Hudson; 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; and other family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Jonathan Max Ferry; two sons-in-law, Bill Sampson and Ernest "Bud" Ferry; a brother, Leo Bowers; five sisters, Bess Rooney, Marie Williams, Helen Wright, Katherine Downs and Elizabeth "Betty" Wade.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in French Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Gregory and the Rev. Charles Parr officiating. Burial will follow in Clearview Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again Thursday prior to services.
