Charles J. Ewing, 73, of Greencastle died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at his residence.
Born Jan. 25, 1931, in Chicago, he was the son of Henry G. and Helen (Mueller) Ewing.
He was a graduate of Greencastle High School Class of 1949 and attended Lane Technical School in Indianapolis.
He married Patricia Hoopingarner and she survives.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War on the USS New Jersey.
Mr. Ewing was employed by IBM for 26 years, retiring in 1987. He was a life member of the Greencastle VFW, past director of the Midwest Tool Collectors, Indiana Archaeology Society a past Boy Scout leader and a member of the Putnam Coin Club.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; two daughters, Stephanie Skinner and husband, James, of Greencastle and Susan Ewing of Greencastle; sisters, Cheryl Salsman and husband, Gary, of Greencastle, Joyce Lear and husband, Larry, of Greencastle, and Jeannine Hoopingarner and husband, Ronald, of Brazil; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Bowen officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
