Thelma E. Jenkins, 83 of Knightsville, died at 10:12 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
She was born Feb. 21, 1921, in Putnam County, Ind. She was the daughter of Roy and Gladys Jessup Hassler. She married Paul Jenkins April 3, 1939. She was a member of Eastern Star and a member of the First Baptist Church of Brazil.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Jenkins, in 1998; one daughter, Carolyn Bloodworth; three brothers, Don Hassler, Manford Hassler and Kenneth Hassler; one sister, Vera Traut; two sons-in-law, Donald Thomas and Melvin Sanders; and one grandson, Rodrick Hauck.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Jenkins and wife, Wilma, of Knightsville and Bill Jenkins and wife, Carolyn, of New Harmony, Ind.; two daughters, Beverly White and husband, Burl, of Brazil and Linda Sanders of Knightsville; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4 -- 8 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Howard Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Run Cemetery in Bridgeton. Donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
