Virginia "Jenny" L. Jeffries, 76, of Crawfordsville died at 1:55 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at Ben Hur Nursing Home in Crawfordsville, Ind.

Born Nov. 29, 1928, in Aurora, Ill., she was the daughter of George and Louise Widdop Nelson.

She married James Thomas Jeffries on June 30, 1945, at Ladoga, Ind. He died on Dec. 25, 1992.

She owned and operated upholstery shops in Roachdale and Greencastle, Ind., and Phoenix, Ariz., with her husband.

She belonged to Roachdale Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas and wife, Carol Jeffries, of Sachse, Texas, and Jack and wife, Jane Jeffries, of Lebanon, Ind.; two daughters, Jill and husband, Alen Melvin, of Crawfordsville and Cindy and husband, Jerry Calandrilla, of Brazil; a sister, Georgia Collings, of Naples, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Servies & Morgan Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington, St., Ladoga, with the Rev. Steve Wilkie officiating. Burial will be in Roachdale Cemetery.

Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.
