Macil Berniece Liechty Lovell, 89, of Terre Haute died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, in Union Hospital.

Born April 2, 1915, in Clay City, she was the daughter of Harvey and Maude Morris Liechty.

On Aug. 11, 1939, she married Paul "Duke" Lovell, who preceded her in death on June 13, 1987.

She was a 1932 graduate of Clay City High School and received her teaching certificate in 1935 and her B.S. degree in 1955 from Indiana State Teaching College and earned a Master's degree from Indiana State University in 1966.

Mrs. Lovell taught for 42 years at Clay City High School, Rankin School in North Terre Haute and Consolidated Grade School in West Terre Haute.

She was a member of the Indiana State Retired Teachers Association and loved to play bingo and bake cookies and cakes to take to the Wabash Valley Senior Citizens Center, where she was a member.

Survivors include a son, Dwight Sherman Lovell, of Redwood City, Calif.; a niece, Beverly Broglin, of Indianapolis; a nephew, Darrell Liechty, of Washington; cousins, Alberta Fagg of Clay City, Richard Liechty of Terre Haute, Johana Faught of Terre Haute and Linda Mallory of Florida.

Services will be in the Schoppenhorst Funeral Home in Clay City on Friday at 1 p.m. with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
