Florence E. Maurer, 92 of Brazil, died at 9:25 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility.

Born Dec. 22, 1909, in Clay County, she was the daughter of William R. Moore and Annise Pullen Moore.

She graduated from Common School and went on to graduate from Brazil High School.

On Dec. 22, 1929, she and Wendell V. Maurer were united in marriage by Pastor Arthur Gean. They loved farming and Florence's life revolved around children, her home and church. She was a 4-H leader and worked two years at the tomato factory in Brazil.

She was an active member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and Ladies Aid. She taught Sunday School classes, led the singing and held various offices in the church. When her health declined, she was forced to slow down but remained faithful to her church.

She is survived by her son, Wendell A. Maurer and his wife Roberta of Broomfield, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Freida Maurer, of Brazil; five grandchildren, Terry Maurer and wife Rachel, Cheryl Falconburg and husband Mickey, Matthew Maurer and wife Becki, Jed Maurer, and Lora Sanders and husband Bill; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Hardey and husband Brad, Shelbi Kotterman, Sarah Maurer, Jesica Maurer, Morgan Judd, and Beau Judd; great-great-grandchildren, Brayln Hardey, Blake Kotterman, and Baileigh Gillin; nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Harold Maurer; four grandchildren, Vicki Maurer, John Maurer, Mary Maurer, and Daniel Maurer; one sister Margaret Murrey; one brother W.R. Moore.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at French Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Short officiating. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. and again Tuesday prior to services.
