Harry E. Mayle Sr., 87, of Harmony, died at 1:19 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at Cloverleaf Healthcare in Knightsville.
He was born May 25, 1917, in Rush Run, in Jefferson County, Ohio. He was the son of J. Wilford and Pearl Bellville Mayle. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1936. He married Genevieve Tucker on Sept. 3, 1944. He was employed at Amax Coal as a dragline operator until his retirement.
He was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 541, BPO Elks Lodge 2471 of Rockville, Eastern Star 238 of Knightsville, Galilee White Shrine 7, Terre Haute Court 25 Order of Amaranth, Terre Haute York Rite -- Scottish Rite and Zorah Shrine. Harry was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Jeddi Clifford Mayle and his wife Genevieve Mayle on July 13, 1990.
He is survived by three daughters, Jonevieve and husband Jim Fletcher of Greenfield, Ind., Harriet and husband Willard Williams of California and Esther and husband Jim Acree of Brazil; two sons, Harry Jr. and wife Nita Mayle of Brazil and Jim and wife Wanda Mayle of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Brown of Harmony and Vivian Smith of Rockville; twelve grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Ruth Mohr.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Bob Kumpf officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery.
