Helena Z. Moody, 71, of Brazil died in her residence on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at 10:25 a.m.
Born May 1, 1933, in Shelburn, Ind., she was the daughter of James H. and Joanna Gottfried Mitchell.
She was raised in Terre Haute and graduated from State High School.
On Sept. 24, 1949, she married George Moody. She was a devoted Christian wife and mother who enjoyed home Bible Study.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, James E. and Marsha Moody of Terre Haute, David L. and Linda Moody, Joseph R. and Tammy Moody and George R. and Misty Moody, all of Brazil; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Patricia J. Moody, Peggy S. and Dave Byrer, Connie L. and Rick Rader and Joanna M. Head, all of Brazil, Barbara J. and Kenny Lowe of Tennyson, Ind., and Mendy K. and Paul Carta of Brazil; 26 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Loren Mitchell of Terre Haute, John Turner of Simpsonville, S.C., and Jim Turner of Richmond, Ind.; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George, who passed away July 10, 2002; and a sister, Levon Ralston.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at New Life Fellowship Church, U.S. 40 and Chamberlin Road, Terre Haute. Her son, Jim Moody, and the Rev. Chuck Cooley will preside over the services. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Terre Haute with the Rev. Melvin Wilkerson officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to services at the church.
