Theodore Mark Bass Jr., 73, of Center Point died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
Born Aug. 26, 1931, he was the son of Theodore Bass Sr. and Laura May Bryan Bass Howald.
He worked as a glaze handler for Arketex Ceramic Corp., in Brazil for 18 years, then for Romas Brothers Farms of Center Point for 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, earning the rank of Corporal and receiving several medals. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Brazil.
On March 19, 1949, he married Iris Imogene (Jean) Hyde of Seelyville.
Survivors include two sons, Mark L. and wife, Rebecca "Kathy" Bass, of Brazil and Dane D. and wife, Melissa Bass of Clay City; three grandchildren, Ryan and wife, Jamie Bass of Terre Haute, Joe Bass of Clay City and Meghan Bass of Clay City; a great-granddaughter, Emma Lee Bass of Terre Haute; a step great-granddaughter, Maddison Wycoff of Terre Haute; a foster grandson Joe Zimmerman of Brazil; a brother, Kenneth M. Bass Sr. of Brazil; a brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Freeman (Bert) and wife, Margaret Hyde of Brazil, Bertha Brashears of Seelyville and Leona Hyde of Seelyville; several nieces; nephews; and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary E. Weaver, of Brazil and Virginia Mae Freeman of Clay City; a brother, Harold Edward "Bob" Bass of Texas; four siblings in infancy; and a stepfather, Joseph K. Howald of Center Point.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in French Funeral Home with Brother Jim Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Summit Lawn Cemetery in Brazil. Military graveside services will be provided by American Legion Post No. 2 and VFW Post No. 1127.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
