Linda Skelley, 47, of Brazil died at 9:23 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at her residence after an extended illness.

Born in Vermillion County on Dec. 30, 1957, she was the daughter of Christina Marie Shannon and John W. Skelley. She was a 1976 graduate of Van Buren High School and then attended Indiana State University and Eastern Michigan University, where she studied criminology. While attending Indiana State, she worked for the Vigo County Youth Center in Terre Haute. She enjoyed crocheting and playing the piano.

Survivors include her mother; a sister, Carolyn and husband, John Peterson, of Monroe, Mich.; two stepbrothers, Rex Cope and Nick Cope, both of Brazil; two stepsisters, Nancy Cox and husband, Millard, of Brazil; and Debra Clingerman and husband, Dean, of Brazil; and a large extended family.

Her father preceded her in death.

Services will be at the Lawson-Miller Chapel today at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dick McShanog officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Terre Haute.

Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until services.
