Hubert James Hyde, 79, of Frankfort, Ind., died at 5:08 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, in the emergency room of St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital in Frankfort, Ind.
Born Dec. 10, 1925, in Brazil, he was the son of Clyde and Violet (Youngblood) Hyde. He graduated from Van Buren High School in 1943 and later married Ruth Owen and they divorced. On Feb. 2, 1973, he married Stella Ferguson and she survives.
He served in the Navy during World War II from 1943-1946. Hyde moved back to Frankfort in the 1950s and was employed by Alcoa for 35 years as a brick mason, retiring in 1975. He was also self-employed as a brick mason.
Memberships included the Moose, the Elks and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Terri and Charles Collins of Brenham, Texas, Clara L. Whitt of Terre Haute, Sue and Tim Williams of Frankfort and Marilyn E. Cole of Noblesville, Ind.; a son, James L. and wife, Rebecca, Hyde of Brazil; a stepson, Damon Owen, of Naples, Fla.; a sister, Otela Warner, of Grove City, Ohio; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Genda Funeral Home, 608 N. Main St., Frankfort, with Pastor Robert Palmer officiating.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
