Ruth E. Mohr, 81, of Brazil, died at 7:44 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
Born Dec. 4, 1923, in Brazil, she was the daughter of Otis and Naomi Harrington McCann. She married Gus Mohr in 1941. She was employed for over 20 years at Clay County Hospital, first as a ward secretary and then in the cardiology department. She also worked as Brazil Clerk Treasurer and Clay County Recorder.
She was a member of the Clay County Historical Society, The Republican Club and the Harmony United Methodist Church where she had participated in the Women Society of Christian Service. She enjoyed traveling with friends, square dancing, needle point, crocheting and playing cards with friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gus, on Dec. 17, 1981, two sisters, Bertha Everman and Sarah Franklin and two brothers, Don and Estel McCann.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Herron and husband, Terry, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Nina Schoonover and husband, Jeff, of Brazil; two sons, Robert Mohr and wife, Peggy, of Germany and David Mohr and wife, Anita, of Brazil; one sister, Florence Lynch, and three grandchildren, Tyson Mohr, Jennifer Mohr, Justin Mohr and wife, Amy, and one great-grandson, Jacen Mohr.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Bob Kumpf officiating. At the request of the deceased, her body will be cremated and her ashes buried at Cottage Hill Cemetery at a later date.
