Thelma Jean Tibbetts Rightsell, 83, of Brazil died at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, in Clay County Health Center in Brazil.

Born May 10, 1922, she was the daughter of Hovia and Gladys Lucille Pyrah Tibbetts.

She married Roy Edward Rightsell.

She graduated from Brazil High School and Indiana State Teachers College.

After receiving her degree in teaching, she taught Business Education and Girls Physical Education at Bowling Green, Clay City, Staunton and Van Buren high schools. She was also a sponsor of the Business Education Club. The club sold Tom Wat-Kits to earn money for trips to Chicago and St. Louis.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Brazil and was baptized when she was 13.

Her hobbies included swimming and boating.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Survivors include two stepdaughters, June Robertson and Ruth Anne Trainer of Brazil, two cousins, Hannalee Tibbetts Pearce of Terre Haute and James and Mary Ballard of Michigan.

Services will be at French Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Tuesday with Brother Greg Comp officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of service.

Donations may be made to the Clay County Humane Society and First Christian Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
