Marceline M. Brunic Grindle, 86, of Terre Haute died at 4:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
Born. Nov. 23, 1918, she was the daughter of Andrew and Mary Gilson Brunic.
She graduated from Coalmont High School in 1935 and married Howard Grindle on Aug. 2, 1942.
She was an active member of the Clay City VFW Auxiliary Post 6606 and served as the state president of the VFW Auxiliary for a term. She is a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Brazil and enjoyed reading, knitting, playing poker and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, Jon Grindle, and a grandson, Kodi Pipes.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Grindle, of Terre Haute and Mark and wife, Debbie Grindle, of Mt. Carmel, Ill.; three daughters, Cheryl Rose and husband, Bob Cotter, of Atlanta, Ga., Yvette Marie and husband, Chuck Dixon, of Charlotte, N.C., and Marcia Lynn and husband, Clayton Larson, of Cape Coral, Fla; a sister, Laura, and husband, Albert Wild, of Terre Haute; 13 grandchildren, Shannon Grindle of Punta Gorda, Fla., Dennis Grindle, also of Punta Gorda, Melissa Pipes of Riley, Ind., John Pipes of Clay City and Melinda Pipes of Indianapolis, Steven Campbell of North Carolina, Gregory and wife, Michelle Campbell, of North Carolina, Dusty Bullard of North Carolina, Benjimine Grindle, Amber Grindle, Eric Grindle, all of Mt. Carmel, Ill., Kristen and husband, Frank Dickens, of Terre Haute and Marice and husband, Andrew Shaynak, of Cape Coral, Fla.; 19 great-grandchidlren, Nicole Parker, Lorie Parker, Jeffrey Parker, all of Punta Gorda, Fla., James Grindle, Samanta Grindle, Taylor Grindle, Anthony Grindle, all of Punta Gorda, Zachary Reagan, Lyndsay Reagan and Dylan Reagan, all of Riley, Gianni Pipes of Terre Haute, Miles Burkhart of Indianapolis, Macie Campbell and Sydney Campbell, both of North Carolina, Terrance Dickens and Sean Dickens, both of terre Haute, Michael Gresham and Jonathan Gresham of North Carolina, and Kaylyn Arwen Shaynak of Cape Coral, Fla.; and other family members.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Annunciation Church with Father Rob Hausladen officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Clay City.
Visitation will be at the Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., in Brazil on Friday, 4-8 p.m.
