Born Sept. 19, 1952, in Sullivan, she was the daughter of Jack and Marguerite Ballenger Everhart.
She was employed at Lear Corp. in Greencastle for six years and was a member of Christ Community Church.
She was very active as a den mother, troop leader and held other positions in the Boy Scouts of America for 17 years.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1999 and a brother, Jeffrey, in 1972.
Survivors include her mother of Hymera; two sons, Chad Edward Newgent and his wife, Stephanie, of Spencer, Ind., and Christopher Earl Newgent of Muncie, Ind.; a sister, Vicki Lynn Pierson and husband, Jeffrey, of Shelburn, Ind.; three brothers, John Kimberly Everhart of Shelburn, Dana Wayne Everhart of Washington and Brian Keith Everhart of Hymera; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. tonight and one hour prior to the time of service. Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, in Mattox-McHugh Funeral Home in Hymera with the Rev. Norman Santus officiating.
Cremation will follow with internment at Easter in the K of P Cemetery in Hymera.
