William Spence, 87 of rural Brazil, died at 10:05 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at Cloverleaf Healthcare in Knightsville.
Born July 6, 1917, in Cardonia, Ind., he was the son of Joseph and Beatrice Smith Spence. He attended Brazil High School and spent his years following high school as a maintenance worker employed at Glen-Gery brick plant until his retirement. On April 15, 1939, in Terre Haute he married Doris Crafton who has preceded him in death.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 541 of Brazil. He enjoyed working outdoors and was especially proud of his vegetable garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Doris; one brother, Jim Spence and a granddaughter, Rhea Buck.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Buck and husband Marvin of Rockville and Pat Emerson and husband Frank of Columbus, Ind.; two grandsons, Ted Buck and wife Sheryle of Louisville, Ky., and Tony Buck and wife Denise of Brazil; two granddaughters, Lora Todd and husband Steve of Greenwood, Ind., and Molly Capo and husband Brian of Lisle, Ill.; six great- grandchildren, Chelsea and Kandice Buck of Louisville, Ky., Ashlen and Clayton Buck of Brazil, and Will and Ellie Todd of Greenwood, Ind., two sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday with burial to follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the First United Methodist Church Caring Ministries. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
