Dorothy E. Waltz, 80, of Rockville, Ind., died at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in West Central Community Hospital, Clinton.
Born March 18, 1924, in Owen County, Ind., she was the daughter of Otto Everly and Hallie Oberholtzer Everly. She was married to George G. Waltz on Nov. 25, 1954, in Spencer, Ind.
She had been a teacher in Valparaiso, East Chicago and Rockville, Ind., school systems.
She was a graduate of Spencer High School and Indiana University.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, James C. Waltz of Cincinnati and Steven G. Waltz, M.D., of Rockville; two daughters, Sharon Hackett of Louisville, Ky., and Miriam Waltz of Chicago; seven grandchidlren, Rachel Waltz, Andy Waltz, Pierce Hackett, Luke Waltz, Abby Hackett, Amanda Waltz and Nick Waltz; a brother, Walter Everly of Park Forrest, Ill.; and a sister, Phyllis Mercer of North Baltimore, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Hammack and June Burns.
Memberships included Rockville First United Methodist Church, Retired Teachers Association and Happy Hours Home Economics Club. She was active in developing literacy programs and served in various offices of Parke Adult Tutoring. She had also been involved in Tri-Kappa, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church, Rockville. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Barnes Mortuary, Rockville, with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery near Madison, Ind.
