James L. Strahla, 89, of Xenia, Ohio, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, in his home.

Born June 18, 1915, in Clay County, he was the son of Pearl and Dell Butts. He married Eleanor Christy on Feb. 6, 1943. She preceded him in death on Feb. 25, 2005.

He graduated from Coalmont High School in 1935.

He retired from Dayton Power and Light. He enjoyed raising a large garden and giving much of it to friends. His parents, sister and four brothers also preceded him in death.

Surviving him are five nephews and one niece, Robert Strahla of Clay City, Arthur Strahla of Indianapolis, John Strahla of Seelyville, Leon Strahla of Reelsville, Noel B., Argos and Lila Stienstra, Clay City.

Services are today in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Xenia, Ohio with burial in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
