David C. Gaskill, 63 of Brazil, died at 5:56 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2005, in the emergency room at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
He was born Sept. 13, 1941, in Indianapolis. He was the son of James and Norma Tiefel Gaskill. He graduated from Staunton High School in 1959 and went on to graduate from Indiana State University in 1964. He married Brenda Hughes in Brazil on Oct. 26, 1963.
While living in Indianapolis he worked as a purchasing agent for General Foods and then began a career in real estate and spent more than 25 years as an appraiser. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, American Legion Post No. 2, and the Board of Realtors and was past president of the Exchange Club.
He enjoyed cooking for his family and most enjoyed working in his yard and landscaping.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Gaskill, his father-in-law, Calvin Hughes, and his mother-in-law, Waneta Hughes.
He is survived by his mother, Norma Gaskill; his wife Brenda; three daughters, Melissa Higgenbotham and husband Brian of Clay City, Shelli Jones and husband Daryl of Reelsville and Libby Gaskill and friend Tim Huber of Brazil; one son, Christopher Gaskill and friend Karen Stewart of Brazil; three grandchildren, Joey Wilson, Samantha Jones and McKenna Jones all of Reelsville. He is also survived by three brothers, Arnold Gaskill and wife Veronica of Indianapolis, James Gaskill and wife Tammy of Terre Haute and Carl Gaskill of Brazil and one sister, Jane Boucher and husband William of Brazil.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday with Brother Rick Wetnight officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
