Bernetta Louise Allen, 88, of Terre Haute died Monday, March 21, 2005, in Union Hospital.

Born Aug. 8, 1916, in Greene County, she was the daughter of Charles W. Allen and Lena May Allen.

She was a 1935 graduate of Brazil High School and memberships included Central Christian Church, Twelve Points Chapter No. 528 Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Eight and Forty Vigo Salon 26 and ETA Chapter Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

She had worked for Kar-Na-Var Corp. of Brazil, The Brazil Daily Times, Paitson brothers Hardware and she retired from Moore Business Forms, where she worked as a secretary for 15 years.

Survivors include two nephews, Robert Hill and wife, Nina Jean, of Winchester, Ind.,, and Bob Hyde of Terre Haute; and three great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Geneva Marie Hill.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, Terre Haute, beginning with Beta Sigma Phi memorial services and followed by funeral services with the Rev. Rebecca Zelensky officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be prior to services on Friday from 1-2 p.m. in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
