Richard W. Tarpley, of West Lafayette, Ind., died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, in Lafayette Ind..

He was employed with Van Guard Trailers and a member of the Indiana National Guard at Brazil at the time of his death. He was formerly employed with Great Danes Trailers in Savannah, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edmond and Mary Tarpley.

Surviving are his sons, Scottie Tarpley of Connecticut, Shawn and his wife, Michelle Tarpley of California and Brooks Gatch of Indiana; a daughter, Valerie Cross of Indiana; a brother, Mike Tarpley of Indiana; and six grandchildren.

The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. today in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Savannah, Ga. Burial will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
