Sharon L. Ashenfelter Jenkins 57, of Brazil died Saturday, April 9, 2005, at 11:21 a.m. at her residence.

Born Dec, 17, 1947, in Decatur, Ill., she was the daughter of Leo V. and Eunice Gibboney Ashenfelter.

She graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield, Ill., and became a certified LPN. She worked at Memorial Hospital, St. Johns Hospital, and Springfield Clinic. She had also worked for the Avon School District. She was a member of the Rainbow -- Acres Church of God in Avon and the First Christian Church in Brazil. She had enjoyed teaching Sunday school, working with the youth, helping to coordinate weddings and spending time with the ladies of the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include her husband, William Jenkins, whom she married Nov. 4, 1989; children, Lindsey M. Bennett, Elizabeth Gibbens and husband, Justen, Tim Jenkins, and Scott Jenkins; five grandchildren, Ryen Perler, Dakota Jenkins, Trevor Jenkins, Jewel Jenkins, and Rachel Gibbens; her parents, Leo and Eunice Ashenfelter, twin sister Karon Kane and husband Ed, sister Joan Kuder; three brothers, Michael Ashenfelter and wife Kathie, Mark Ashenfelter and wife Tina, and John Ashenfelter and wife Liane; several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at French Funeral Home with Brother Greg Comp officiating. Burial will follow in LaPlace, Ill. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and again prior to services.
