William "Bill" O. Neihart, 75, of Coal City passed away Sunday, April 10, 2005, at Harborside Healthcare Facility in Terre Haute.

Born April 6, 1930, in Coal City, he was the son of Gilbert and Dorothy Wells Neihart. He was married to Connie Henley Niehart who survives.

He graduated from Coal City High School and served in the U.S. Air Force in 1948. He continued his education at Indiana State University and graduated with a degree in Business Education. He taught for three years at Thorntown School and later obtained a post-graduate degree at Indiana State University. He began working in the ISU accounting department and became chief accountant. He became Controller in 1967 and remained in that position until he retired in 1990.

Following retirement, he moved back to the family farm in Coal City and has lived there since 1993. He enjoyed raising beef cattle. He served on the Owen County Extension Board, the Coal City-Patricksburg American Legion Post as Chaplain and worked with the Gideons.

He was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church in Coal City.

Survivors include his wife, Connie, of Coal City; a son, Scott W. Niehart, of Marshall, Ill.; two grandchildren, Cody W. Niehart and Anna L. Niehart, both of Marshall; a sister, Shirley Clouse, of Martinsville, Ind.; a niece, Patty Smith; and other family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Schoppenhorst Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Tyra officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and Wednesday prior to services.
