Thelma Maxine Thomas, 82, of Brazil died at 1:03 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2005, in the emergency room of St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil.
Born Dec. 13, 1922, in Clay County, she was the daughter of Clarence and Artie Mitchel Thomas. She graduated from Van Buren High School. Following high school, she married James M. Thomas on May 31, 1941, in Knightsville.
She was active in the McKinley Hill Church of Christ and enjoyed gardening, sewing and baking for her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on Aug. 22, 1985, and a brother, Wayne Thomas.
Survivors include a son, Daniel Thomas and wife, Betty, of Brownsburg, Ind.; two daughters, Diana Maloziec and husband, Dennis, of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Alice Rankin and husband, Paul, of Columbus, Ind.; a brother, Everett Thomas, of Prescott, Ariz.; a sister, Francis Chamberlin of Brazil; three grandchildren, Anna Thomas-Porter of Texas, Amanda Funkhouser of Lebanon, Ind., and Amy Ellett of Speedway, Ind.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday with Pastors Rick Thomas and Kent Ellett officiating. Burial will follow in Calcutta Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to McKinley Hill Church of Christ or the Berean Children's Home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
