Clarence Hastings Cook, 74, of Brazil, died at his home in Brazil on Friday, April 29, 2005.
He was born in Bible Grove, Ill. on March 27, 1931, the son of Clarence R. and Amy C. Hastings Cook. They preceded him in death.
He married Lillian Kiger in Kentucky in September of 1956. She preceded him in death.
He was the general manager at Zimmerly Ready Mix in Paris, Ill., and retired on Dec. 25, 1995. He was affiliated with Paris Church of God and was attending Way of the Cross Church in Brazil. He served in the U.S. Navy with the rank of BM3. He served in the Korean War.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara VanNess.
Survivors include two sisters, Jane Phemister of Hixson, Tenn. and Blanche Frey of Newport News, Va.; granddaughter Vicki and husband Robert Shorter of Brazil; grandson Jim VanNess of Columbus, Ind.; great-grandson Jon and wife Emily Shorter of Brazil; great-granddaughter Jessica Shorter of Brazil; and great-grandson Mason Shorter of Brazil.
Funeral services will be conducted in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home in Paris, Ill. at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Paris. Friends are invited to call from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4 in the funeral home.
