Gladys F. Hartman, 80, of Bowling Green, passed away in the presence of her family at home May 4, 2005. She was born April 11, 1925 in Lena, the daughter of Roy Phipps and Mary Lovica Ruby Phipps. She attended school in Lena and also attended the Lena Methodist Church as a young girl. She was married to Thomas R. Hartman on December 15, 1953 who preceded her in death May 27, 1987. She helped work on the family farm, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and canning the bounty of the garden. She tended her flowers and was an accomplished quilter.

She is survived by her children, Karen Lovett and husband Myron of Brazil;, Bill Hartman and wife Karen of Clinton, Tom Hartman of Bowling Green, Arnold Hartman and wife Anna of Bowling Green, and Forest Hartman and wife Stefanie of Greencastle; nine grandchildren, Clifford Lovett and wife April, Greg Lovett and wife Carrie, Brad Lovett, Hannah Hartman, Megan Hartman, Juliannaa Hartman, Forest Hartman Jr., Jacob Hartman, and Andrea Hartman; three brothers, Ishmael Phipps, Wayne Phipps, and Ivan Phipps, and one sister Leatha Shoaf; serveral nieces and nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, James, Lawrence, Homer, Harmon and Everett Phipps, two sisters Esther Hartman and Lucy Swim.

Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Shoppenhorst Funeral Home with Insuk Hong-Peebles officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Light a candle in her memory at www.shoppenhorstfuneralhome.com
