Josephine L. Morge, 83, of Brazil, passed away May 17, 2005, at 10:03 a.m. at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
She was born December 5, 1921 in Mulberry, IN, the daughter of Hugh E. Meers and Ethyl Aldine Ramsay Meers. She came to Terre Haute in 1940 to attend Indiana State Teachers College. She later graduated from Indiana State Unversity. She married Herschel Morge on July 7, 1942. They moved to Clay County in 1963. She was a member of the Staunton First Christian Church. She was a very creative person, and enjoyed writing, quilting, crafts and gardening. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include two children, son, David R. Morge and wife Rogene, and daughter Sally L. Hassler and husband Mark; one son-in-law, William Tom White; six grandchildren, Jean White Tanner, Bo H.T. White, Shelby Morge, Lynsey Morge, Trevor Hassler and Trace Hassler; 4 great-grandchildren; Breanna, Ethan and Dabryn Tanner and Tayler White all of Brazil; several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Herschel Morge, on Octobr 20, 1998; one daughter Sharon L. White on January 30, 2002; one sister and brother in law, Carrie and Charles Hayes.
Services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at French Funeral Home with Brother Doug Parkey officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute. Visitation wil be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and again Friday prior to services.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to Staunton First Christian Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
