Aretha "Jane" Thomas, 80, of Carbon died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2005, in her niece's residence in Indianapolis. She was born October 20, 1924, in Clay County to Jack Moberly and Susan Burk Moberly.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed Bingo, sewing and pets -- especially cats and dogs. She attended Carbon United Methodist Church and was a member of the Carbon Happy Hour and the VFW 1127 Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tommy M. Thomas; one brother, David Burton Moberly; and seven sisters: Eunice Christine Collins, Nina Minerva Warren, Bertha (Edna) Young, Ruth Ernestine Lavery, Zeda Enid Frederick, Mable Muriel Davis, and Joyce Carol Cooper.
She is survived by one sister, Ilene Moberly Warren Newcomb of Indianapolis, many nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
Funeral Services will be held at Moore Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Marshall Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 pm.
