James Rhea Roberts, age 79, of Staunton, died at 4:11 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born May 17, 1926, in Beech Grove, Indiana. He was the son of Russell and Ethyl Sanders Roberts.He lived on State Road 340 and attended Staunton High School. During World War II he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving in the Asiatic Pacific area and Philippine Liberation campaigns. He also served during the Korean War earning a honorable discharge in 1954.

He lived in Louisiana for several years working for Citgo for 40 years. At retirement he enjoyed traveling and in 1996 he returned to Indiana, settling in Staunton.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a daughter and grandson in Louisiana, cousins, nieces, nephews and a sister-in-law..

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or funeral services. His body will be cremated and his ashes buried at a later date. Moore Funeral Home provided arrangements and cremation services.
