Josephine A. Stanger, 86 of Brazil, died June 24, 2005 at 2:44 a.m. at St. Vincent Clay Hospital. She was born May 20, 1919 in Clay County the daughter of Demetrio and Anna Mary Zimmerman Jordan. She graduated from Brazil High School in 1936 and later attended Indiana Business College. In her working career, she worked in the office at American Vitrified also in the office at Dr. Webster from 1960-1970, and last worked in the General Telephone Company office in Brazil. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Jordan Thomas Brown and wife Deborah, daughter and son in law, Deanna and Jim Hayes all of Brazil; five grandchildren, Michelle Smith and husband Rob, Samantha Brown, Jordan H. Brown and wife Nicole, Carissa Lovett, and Brad and Elizabeth Hayes; six great-grandchildren, Ethan Smith, Ryan Smith, Jordan Ray Brown, Nicolas Brown, Chloe Hayes and Marek Hayes; and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her three husbands, Kenneth Brown, Gilbert "Perk" Perkins, and A.D. "Red" Stanger; one sister Margerite "Maggie" Biggs.

Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Brother Lyle Monnett officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 12 to 2 p.m. The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to the Caring Ministry at First United Methodist Church.
