Donald L. Johnson, 73, of Brazil died June 27, 2005, at 12:15 p.m. at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
He was born May 30, 1932, in Putnam County the son of Ernest and Ruth Neese Johnson. He attended Brazil High School. On June 28, 1953, he married Mayme R. Gerber Johnson. He attended First United Methodist Church in Harmony.
As a young man he worked on his grandfather's farm, and then worked at Arketex for over 17 years. He later worked at Anaconda and retired from Alcan in 1987 after 20 years of employment. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Union Local No. 103.
He was an avid CB radio user and was known as "Corny" on the airwaves. He enjoyed the out of doors, going to Dietz Lake, boating, fishing and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife Mayme, their children, Michael Johnson and wife Debra, Sheila K. TerMeer and finance Leroy Coleman, and Pamela S. Johnson all of Brazil; 10 grandchilden, Amy Jo Fideli and husband Baycan, April Ann Cahalan and husband Tim, Alyssa Michele Lee Johnson, Amber Lynne Johnson, Jason David Evans, John B. "Deuce" Gerrard II, Joel Adam TerMeer II, Mabry Anna Ruth TerMeer, Maygan Michelle Mayfield and Joshua Casey; 3 great-grandchildren, Aydin Michael Fideli, Kyle David Evans, and Alexander Harris; two sisters, Carol Johnson of Avon, IN and Betty Jarvis and husband Carl of Brazil; one sister in law, Marie Raab Johnson of Brazil; nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother ,James Johnson. Services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Kumpf officiating.
