Geneva S. Mitchel, 95, of Center Point, died June 27, 2005, at Union Hospital at 5:15 p.m.
She was born May 24, 1910, in Patricksburg the daughter of Jacob and Essie Sheer Wells. She attended school in Patricksburg. She was a member of the Center Point United Methodist Church. She played the organ and the piano and provided music at the Rentschler Funeral Home in Center Point for many years. She was married to Homer E. Moon, he preceded her in death in 1970. She later married Walter E. Mitchel and he passed away in 1987.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Lionald and Freda Moon of Indianapolis; two granddaughters, Jenneice and husband Ed, and Jennifer Hodnett and husband Greg; four grandchildren, Dustin Miller, Sunnie Miller, Heather Hodnett and Matthew Hodnett, two step-daughters, Ellen Williams of Oklahoma City, OK and Dorothy Brown of Sacramento, CA; 7 step-grandhchildren; many nieces and nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and three brothers, Floyd Wells, Warren Wells and Harlan Wells; 4 sisters, Genevive Wells, Ethel Meganhardt, Altha Ballinger and Marie Parr.
Services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Revs. Charles E. DuMond and Myron James officiating. Burial will follow at Center Point Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her honor to the Clay County Humane Shelter. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
