Rick "Lucas" Holifield, 21, of Brazil died at St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil, June 28 2005 at 11:20 a.m.
He was born July 31, 1983, in Brazil, the son of Angela and Rick Holifield. He is a 2002 graduate of Northview High School.
He was employed by PDF in Brazil. He had previously worked as a drywall finisher. He was an avid coon hunter and was the dog handler for the 2002 World Champion Plot. He loved to read and was an accomplished writer of poetry.
He is survived by his mother, Angela Kowitz, father and step-mother Rick and Penny Holifield; grandparents: Mary Lou Cox, Bob and Charlotte Brush, Tommy and Glenna Holifield and Margaet Patton; eight brothers and sisters, Brittany Kowitz, Mary Kay Wymer, Lisa Holifield, Joshua Holifield, Tommy Holifield, Ashley Kowitz, Kelsey Simonson and Cory Simonson; seven aunt and uncles, Susie Ennis, Judy Maynard, Jim and Pam Holifield, Jeff and Sue Holifield, Jacque Zing, Chuck and Sheri Brush and John and Denise Brush; and four nephews, Mason, Jayden, Brendan and Aiden.
Coy and Diane Williams and the Mike Evinger family were amongst a large close knit circle of extended family and friends who loved and were loved by Lucas.
Services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, with Brother Greg Comp officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Friday prior to services at the funeral home.
