Born in Paris, Ill., on May 16, 1932, his parents, the late Herbert C. Meeks, Sr., and Vilena Cunningham Meeks, later moved to Terre Haute where he was graduated from Gerstmeyer High School.
He also had resided in the Chicago area and was a machinist for the Precision Brand Co. of Downers Grove, Ill. After his retirement he returned to Paris to make his home until his health failed, then he moved to Brazil to reside with his son and family.
His memberships were with the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Paris, the Intenational Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Lodge 1202 of Chicago, and the Marshall, Ill. Masonic Lodge.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra K. Heading, and a brother, Robert Meeks.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Margaret, one son and his wife, Brian K. and Pam Meeks, Brazil; two brothers and their wives, Herbert C., Jr. and Mary Jane Meeks, and Albert L. and Madonna Meeks, all of Paris, Ill.; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in Lawson-Miller Chapel with Rev. Donald Shane, pastor of his church in Paris, officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. Friday until the service, with cremation following.
